Bill Goodman and his wife Barbara have lived in the Eastern Sierra Mountains near Bishop Ca. for the last 30 years. This is where Bill gets his inspiration for his paintings. The beautiful sunrises, sunsets, snow, fall colors, clear mountain lakes, wildlife and the fresh air are what he tries to present in his painting.

Bill loves to go on pack trips in the high country and cattle round ups at the ranches below the Eastern Sierra to get reference material for his paintings. He does plein air painting to get the feel of the true lighting, shadows, values and atmosphere of a scene. Then he will work on a larger painting in he studio from the quick plein air study.

In Bill's early years as a child he was highly influenced by the Western lifestyle. His father, Dick Goodman had a very successful career in Western Music. This is where Bill was able to meet many western movie, TV and artists through his father.

Western artists Robert Wagoner and Bill Shaddix had a strong influence on Bill's artistic painting style.

Currently Bill attends many prominent Westerns Art Shows, Death Valley 49er's Invitational Art Show, Bishop Mule Days Art Show, Lone Pine Film Festival Art Show, The Altrusa Invitational Art Show, Mammoth Lakes 4th of July Invitational Art Show and the 2020 Cattlemen's Invitational Western Art Show to name a few.
